Welcome to the MKN Alumni Blog!

We’re excited to introduce a new way for MO-KAN-NE (MKN) TRIO & GEAR UP alumni to stay connected, learn from one another, and find opportunities to grow.

For the past year, the MKN Alumni Committee has shared updates through our bi-monthly Alumni Connection Newsletter. While we’ve enjoyed bringing you news, resources, events, and alumni stories through the newsletter, we’re ready to take the next step in how we connect with our alumni community.

We’re moving from a bi-monthly newsletter to an alumni blog!

Why a Blog?

We wanted to create a way to share information with you more often—and in a format that gives us more flexibility.

Rather than waiting for the next newsletter to share an important resource, upcoming event, alumni accomplishment, or opportunity, we can now share those things throughout the year.

Our goal is simple: to provide useful, interesting, and relevant content that helps MKN alumni stay connected and continue to grow.

Each week, we’ll highlight a different topic, resource, story, or opportunity that we think will benefit our alumni community.

What Can You Expect?

The MKN Alumni Blog will cover a variety of topics, including:

💼 Career Resources
Looking for a new job, thinking about a career change, or trying to grow in your current position? We’ll share career advice, job-search resources, workplace tips, and other tools to help you reach your professional goals.

🌟 Alumni Stories
Our alumni are doing amazing things! We’ll spotlight TRIO and GEAR UP alumni, share their journeys and accomplishments, and give you an opportunity to learn from others who have been where you are.

📚 Professional Development
Learning doesn’t stop after graduation. Look for resources and opportunities related to leadership, communication, financial wellness, career advancement, and other skills that can help you personally and professionally.

📣 Advocacy
TRIO and GEAR UP have made a difference in the lives of countless students—and alumni have an important voice in making sure these programs continue. We’ll share ways you can advocate for TRIO and GEAR UP and make your voice heard.

📅 Events & Opportunities
Stay up to date on upcoming MKN events, alumni activities, workshops, panels, and other opportunities to get involved.

🤝 Connect & Get Involved
One of the greatest strengths of the MKN alumni community is the people in it. We’ll highlight opportunities to network, volunteer, share your expertise, present at an event, contribute an article or video, and connect with other alumni.

And We Want You to Be Part of It!

This blog isn’t just for alumni—it’s about alumni and created with alumni.

You don’t have to be a professional writer to contribute. Maybe you have a career experience that could help another alumnus. Maybe you have a story you’d like to share. Maybe you’d like to record a short video, lead a virtual workshop, recommend a resource, or connect with other alumni in your field.

We want to hear from you!

If you have an idea for something you’d like to contribute to the MKN Alumni Blog, we’d love to help make it happen. Email us at mokanne-alumni@eoa.org to get involved with the blog!

Stay Connected

We hope the new MKN Alumni Blog will become a place where you can find useful information, celebrate fellow alumni, discover new opportunities, and stay connected to the TRIO and GEAR UP community.

Check back each week to see what’s new—and don’t be surprised if you see a familiar face!

We’re excited about this next chapter of MKN alumni engagement, and we hope you’ll be part of it.
